New generation of interlocking toy bricks
After one year of development, the Dutch company LUCO TOYS presents a new generation of its toy bricks: interlocking building blocks made from the wood plastic composite JELUPLAST®. LUCO TOYS thus expands its product range of interlocking wooden bricks and will in future also offer interlocking building bricks made from bioplastic.
From the idea to development
The industrial designers Roger van der Linden and Chantal Voskuilen have developed the toy blocks LUCO BRICKS. It was their son who led them to come up with the idea of interlocking wooden bricks. The inventors manufactured the first generation of toy blocks from rubber wood. Since wood comes with a certain variance, Roger van der Linden and Chantal Voskuilen decided to produce a second product variant from bioplastics. They chose JELUPLAST®. This wood plastic composite is eco-friendly and can be formed more precisely than wood. As soon as the injection moulding tool in the Netherlands has been adapted to the bioplastic, the company will begin serial production of the interlocking building blocks made from JELUPLAST®.
