Plant fibres for food technology

JELUCEL® plant fibres are valuable dietary fibres with multi-functional properties, available in fibre or powder form. The following qualities are based on annual plants: JELUCEL® WF (Wheat Fibres), JELUCEL® OF (Oat Fibres) and JELUCEL® BF (Bamboo Fibres). The desired fibre length distributions are obtained using purely mechanical procedures.

Fields of application and labelling

JELUCEL® plant fibres are foods and can be used in the area of food production in manifold ways.

Thus they can serve to increase the fibre content of different products to an amount that exceeds the total fibre content of at least 3 grams dietary fibre per 100 grams food – a content which is claimable in compliance with the EU Health Claims Regulation. The fibre content is equal to the sum of product fibres plus added fibres.

If JELUCEL® plant fibres are to be used for purely technological purposes in Germany, an exceptional permission according to § 68 LFGB (German Foodstuffs, Consumer Goods and Animal Feed Code) must be applied for.

Please note that the usage conditions and declaration options of JELUCEL® plant fibres depend on the specific composition and positioning of the end product and must, in particular cases, also be assessed by food experts in due consideration of product and country-specific regulations.
